CORRUPTION FINDINGS AGAINST former assistant Dublin city and county manager George Redmond have been quashed in court this afternoon.
The High Court was told that the Mahon Tribunal (or the Tribunal of Inquiry into Certain Planning Matters & Payments as it’s officially known) had agreed to withdraw the findings.
A finding that Redmond had hindered and obstructed the Tribunal was also quashed.
The 90-year-old won a Supreme Court appeal in July, allowing him to continue with his action aimed at overturning the findings made against him.
His solicitor, Keith Walsh, said Redmond felt “vindicated” by the decision.
“He wants to get on with his life now that this has been dealt with, and put it behind him.”
The findings were made in an interim report by the Tribunal in 2004.
