Probate office delays will impact housing supply, says Lisney, Grants of probate now taking up to 22 weeks, according to estate agent, with solicitors warning that home sales are falling through, according to a report in today's Irish Times.

These delays are caused by under staffing in the Probate Offices and the delay is from the lodgment of the applicaiton for grant of probate where there is a will or grant of administration where the person died intestate (without a will).

The Law Society and solicitors have been calling for the delays to be reduced for years without success and we hope this article will assist in the ongoing lobbying for a reduction in the delays in the probate office. The delays affect those recently bereaved as well as those wishing to buy a new home for their families.
